Best friend bonding involving a campfire, alcohol and half serious Truth or Dare. That turns more serious then either Starfleet Officer intended.

Tonight was a night to relax with his best friend. Or at least, that was what Trip had decided, whether Jon liked it or not. He'd even gone through the trouble of making things cozy, with a fire out on the beach in front of their hut and alcohol graciously borrowed from Trixia. With his bottle of island made rum in hand, he leaned back against a stump he'd dragged over with Porthos curled into his side and he looked over the flames to where Jon was sitting, a playful grin on his lips. "Hey Jon....Truth or Dare." Because what was a campfire without silly campfire games? And the alcohol only made things interesting.

Archer sat with his legs crossed, posture relaxed but pretty close to perfect, and he grinned back at Trip.

"I'm game," he said. He was also very mildly tipsy, and quite looking forward to getting more so. It was strange, but good, in a way, to not be on the Enterprise right now. He was trying to make himself take advantage of moments like this, and not worry too much. He didn't have to get up early, he didn't have to be on hand in case the ship was attacked and he had to take charge, he could just... get drunk, with his best friend.

Also, he suspected he had sand in his underwear, but he'd live.

It pleased Trip more then he could say to see Jon relaxing. He knew it tried on his Captain to not be on Enterprise and he was going to do his best to make him at least somewhat enjoy his time on the island. "So, if yer game, answer the question." He said with a smirking grin as he raised the bottle in challenge.

"Truth," Archer said decidedly. He was captain. He was good at making decisions. And he wasn't entirely sure his legs wouldn't wobble under him if he picked Dare and Trip asked him to do something ridiculous. Captain couldn't fall on his ass, after all.

He had dignity to maintain, he thought, as he let out a tiny burp.

The Captain couldn't fall on his ass but Jon could and that's who Trip was looking for tonight. Let Jon forget about about being Captain Jonathan Archer for a while. Though the burp was a good start and Trip wasn't ashamed to admit that he might have giggled a bit in reply.

He made a show of thinking about what he wanted to ask, tapping the lip of his bottle against his chin. "You've been on the island three months. Name one person you'd had improper thoughts about." He smirked, as he hadn't let it be a secret that he wanted to help Jon have a little adult fun on the island.

Archer grinned as Trip giggled. He wasn't entirely sure what the giggle was for. Maybe Trip'd seen something funny behind him. Didn't matter, anyway. He liked Trip's giggle. He liked Trip's everything.

He snorted, then started to blush. He'd have to pick someone or Trip'd never give him any rest. "Um... Kate."

Not improper thoughts, exactly. Just... admiration of her physicality.

Oh he was laughing at you, Jon. Don't even try and think otherwise.

When Jon named Kate, Trip burst out laughing. "Well, can't fault ya for taste. Shame she's somethin' with Neal or I would have had to arrange a play date." Admiration of her physicality was close enough.

Archer decided he'd probably never know just why Trip'd been giggling, but it wasn't the end of the world.

He broke into a wry grin at Trip's response. "Yes, I can't say I'm very good at this, clearly." Maybe his subconscious had decided to notice her partly because she was with someone. Safe. Not risking anything by looking at her. "Your turn. Truth or dare?"

"We'll just have to introduce ya to more folks, that's all." And Trip would make good on that threat. Maybe he could convince Jon to come to the casino the next weekend it was open. Or get Jon to come with him to the Catscratch Club. Probably nothing would come of it but it would sure be entertaining! Or maybe Phoebe knew of someone who could entertain a lonely Captain...

"Hmmm..." Trip made a big show of pretending to think. "Dare."

"We can do that," Archer said easily. "But don't go thinking I just want to get introduced to more people to satisfy your nefarious need to match people up. Sometimes I don't actually need a girlfriend, y'know."

Or a boyfriend. He was largely straight, but he was far from disinterested in guys. Especially... no, he couldn't think that way.

"Dare you to go an entire day without underwear, then," he said playfully.

Trip threw up his hands. "Alright, alright. Ya don't wanna have any fun, that's your problem. I'm just being a good friend 'an tryin' ta help." He let his accent get thicker as he smirked playfully at Jon.

Then he burst out laughing. "Ya sure that's wise given how prone I am ta loosin' my uniform?" He knew all about the running joke on Enterprise about all the times he'd managed to run around in just his underwear. It wasn't his fault he kept loosing it! Well...most of the time of the time anyway. "You just wanna sneak a peak at the goods, don't ya?" He teased with a wink and a long drink from his bottle.
