Trip loved the beach. He loved living on the beach. If he couldn't be on Enterprise or live in Florida, this wasn't a horrible substitute.

And one of the best parts was the ability to go for a morning swim in the ocean. Jon may have missed swimming in a pool for water polo but Trip didn't believe there was anything better then swimming against the waves.

Finally, he'd swum up an appetite and reluctantly waded out of the ocean to wrangle up from breakfast.

This didn't have anything to do with missing de Courcey, not in the slightest. It was only that Molokov was so terribly bored and desperate to amuse himself ever since it had been emphatically made clear to him that Sergievsky was off limits. Trip happened to be the first person Molokov's eyes had fallen on and that he happened to share an accent with de Courcey was merely a pleasant bonus.

He took a few moments to appreciate the sight of a half-naked Trip rising from the ocean then sauntered over to greet him in his best charming manner.

"Hello, Commander! It is a very nice day for a swim, yes?"

"You do have a point," Molokov chuckled. Truth be told, he hated the island and hated the weather (the stupid enduring heat) but since there was nothing he could do about this, he could only grin and bear it.

"This constant good weather amazes me, you know. Even though I know better, I keep expecting there to be a cold day or even clouds. It is very strange after living in Moscow."

In fact, Sergievsky had very little to say to Molokov on anything, let alone that particular subject - not that he was going to mention this to Trip, of course. He was going to have to tread carefully on the matter of his "friendship" with the grandmaster. The last thing he wanted was for Sergievsky's kept boy to make trouble. It would be easier if he had de Courcey to run interference but then again, the lack of de Courcey was why he was doing this in the first place.

"This does not get boring to you?" Molokov asked curiously. "All this sunshine and no change?"

"It is hard to miss what you do not see often," Molokov said easily. "If you become used to miserably cold days, then it is what you grow to expect and when you experience something different, then it can cause consternation."

He paused for a moment then laughed. "But perhaps I shall get used to this and this time next year, you will find me always on the beach, becoming one with the sun."
