He was going to have to tread carefully on the matter of his "friendship" with the grandmaster. The last thing he wanted was for Sergievsky's kept boy to make trouble. It would be easier if he had de Courcey to run interference but then again, the lack of de Courcey was why he was doing this in the first place.
